Horween's Vermont is a lightweight equine leather known for its medium-soft temper and natural feel. The vegetable tanning process imparts a warm, natural color that develops a rich patina over time. Each hide is mill-dyed with aniline dyes that bring out the natural grain and then vacuum-dried, providing a firm yet pliable structure with a thickness of 2.5-3 oz (1.0-1.2 mm). Vermont receives a slight tumbling that adds depth, resulting in a rich hand feel that highlights the authentic texture and subtle variations of the hide’s surface. Ideal for garments, bags, footwear, small leather goods, and more.

Double Horse Fronts: When compared to Steer, Horse hides have a different fiber structure and are naturally thinner which allows Horween Leather Company to produce a lightweight finished leather.  The grain of the horse hides will show a coarser, more pronounced grain structure and are more abrasion resistant.  Due to the characteristics of the horsehide, the finished leather will display more variation and natural markings as compared to our Bovine leathers. The Double Horse Front (DHF) is one among three cuts of a horsehide — this particular selection of the leather is the whole front portion of the hide, with the Butt being cropped off for the Cordovan and Horsehide strip.

Pinnacle is a new development in the horsefront leather line from Horween Leather Company. This leather is designed with a strong and durable base tannage, resulting in a final product that is buttery soft and rich in feel. Pinnacle is combination tanned, using chrome tanning with a vegetable re-tannage. New formulations for this product include a proprietary blend of oils being introduced during the tanning process which provide a rich nourishment of the fibers, giving the leather its strength, durability, and soft feel. The leather is then finished with a blend of waxes and aniline dyes, which highlight the unique grain of the horsehide.

New Smyrna is a calf suede dyed in deep indigo and washed to create a naturally evolving surface. The process allows the leather to breathe and settle, resulting in subtle distressing and tonal variation across each hide. The dye produces a marbled effect with visible shifts in color throughout.

Over time, warm undertones emerge with wear, adding depth and dimension. Soft yet structured, it is well suited for footwear, garments, and refined leather goods where texture and color development are central to the design.

Please note that all Atlantica’s leathers are natural and unrefined. Marks or variations are not defects, but rather authentic characteristics of the hide. Moreover, color may slightly vary from piece to piece, depending on each leather’s unique features. This is not to be considered a flaw.

A unique and rare leather, Mad Dog® is produced from vegetable-tanned, farm-reared African goats. Finished using Tusting & Burnett’s signature blend of natural oils and waxes, this process enhances the leather’s distinctive shrunken grain pattern, resulting in a rich, aniline leather.

Mad Dog is intentionally designed with a high oil content to provide versatility in finishing. This allows for a range of techniques—including burnishing, polishing, distressing, hand-washing, and staining—giving the user control over the final look and feel.

The surface of this Tusting & Burnett leather has a noticeably waxy feel, characteristic of the high oil composition. Whether left as-is or manipulated, this leather provides flexibility for a wide range of applications.

Sustainably sourced and hand-tanned by a farming cooperative in Africa, these goatskins reflect Tusting & Burnett’s dedication to eco-conscious practices. Tanned using Begaruwa seeds from Nilotica trees, each hide is carefully twisted during the tanning process to create its signature natural grain. Every part of the animal is utilized by the cooperative, with proceeds supporting the local community and their way of life.

Piuma is a lightweight calfskin leather that craves to be touched. The hand is incredibly soft and oozes a feeling of luxury. This full grain Italian leather lends itself to the very finest leather goods. Piuma is tumbled (milled), which achieves both softness and a natural grain appearance. The grain has a subtle sheen which is achieved through an ironing process.
